Upcoming Workshop: "People in Pictures" with Award-Winning Painter Roger Dellar at Otter Studio
We are delighted to announce that acclaimed artist Roger Dellar will be hosting a special workshop titled "People in Pictures" at Otter Studio on February 7th - 8th, 2025. This two-day workshop will focus on the art of capturing people in oil paintings.
Roger Dellar, a celebrated member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Pastel Society, and the Royal Institute of Watercolours, will guide you through the essential techniques for portraying figures in various settings. Whether you are a beginner or looking to refine your skills in oil painting, this workshop is designed to elevate your understanding and execution of painting people.
Roger will show you how to add life to your paintings by including figures either as part of the scene, or as the feature itself. He will show you proportions, and relationships to the environment in particular perspective. Movement, and lost and found edges, and how the figure doesn’t have to be a static cut out.
Also included in the courses will be the lay up of paint and colour mixing, and the application of oil paint in alla prima painting.
